who treats you with respect in nyc??

Hi, I am starting a blog for all you ladies who lunch in nyc and are over 40. Did you ever notice that we sometimes get treated as if we don't exist at restaurants, shops, boutiques, or even at the shoe repair?? But really there are so many lovely and friendly places to give our business to that we should all share our experiences each day and reward those establishments that don't seat us next to the toilet, or the wait station. Or the doctor that actually talks to us, not at us. Or maybe the clothing store where we actually have someone say hello can we help you. On this blog please tell us your experiences good and bad each day. We deserve to be treated with respect, don't we?. Do we really need to bring our 20 or 30 something sons or daughters with us to get that nice table, or that good service? If we share the places that treat us with respect we are doing everyone a great service. So join me and blog away ..... today. Remember this is not a b****y site, but one that is honest and truthful so we can all enjoy our wonderful life in nyc..

Hi, I will start this blog. If you are loooking for a restaurant that treats you well try the following, but make a reservation first: Atlantic Grill, Ocean Grill, Alto, all treat us nicely and have friendly waitstaff and don't sit us next to the toilet or waitstation. DO NOT go to Isabella's. Went recently with a friend and place was emptpy and they sat us next to where they dump the dishes. When we asked to move, they sat us at the door to the outside terrace. NOT good form people!! For shoes that are compfy and not too ugly go to Harry's on Broadway and ask for Kenny. My whole family uses him only and never have a bad fit. Do not go to FOPP's on Madison. I went in and browsed and they stard at me (and I thought I looked so nice, oh well). By accident, (truly it was) I dropped 2 of their precious dresses off the end of the dress hook and they fell to the floor (whoopsie). The salesgirl ( anyone under 30) stared at me, I picked them up and she proceeded to follow me around the store until I left. After I walked a few blocks, I returned (yes, you didn't meet me yesterday) and spoke to the manager who was beyond rude and EURO and said, (for real) "our customers don't like to be asked if they need help". So there we go. So ladies, where can we go to eat, dance, exercise, dress up, get teeth whitened, faces lifted, butts tightened????? talk to me, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

You have the best stuff. any jewelers you like in nyc? You can share your secrets or your friends' secrets.... hmmmm.

Dr. Alvin Berman is a GYN you have to wait for, because he always runs late. This is because he spends time with you! You are not a number, but a real person. He is very through and you walk out feeling you are truly fine.

Hi anonymous, thanks so much for the name of the gyn. he sounds like a good person to know of. i would like to share my internist. shari midoneck, ny hosp. she emails you, calls you back, and treats you like you have that degree you actually have!! she is a dr without any pretensions, 2 kids at riverdale and a husband who, i learned and not from her, was katie couric's colonscopy live on tv dr. so everyone where can i get my mom's diamond watch clasp fixed in nyc inexpensively but in a trustworthy jeweler?? still looking for the spa/facial lady??

o.k. ladies.
so many questions to answer from my side.
a facialist: Leda Lancaster
wellpath sALON 212-737-9604
She was a senior person at Georgette Klinger and she is fabulous.
go to Nik Neil on Lexington Ave between 73 and 74th west side of the street for jewelry repair in the neighborhood. You can wait while he fixes your crown jewels. he is honest and moderate and nice.
on a different topic, I had lunch today with Honest Jo and she and i ate at a great new place called Rouge Tomate on 60th bet. 5th and mad.
Very pretty place, very excellent food (using sustainable food that is locally grown) and very comfy. But...hurry for it is too nice to last long in this economy .
I would like to share the best, by far, pedicure in N.Y.
If you have awful feet that are in need of pampering and great love this is for you.
Her name is Sandra and she attends to hands and feet (and a few other body parts) at La Marquesa Spa at 81st and Lexington inside the salon there. 212-794-3300. She is the boss.
Her regular pedicure is an hour long and she has no qualms about fixing problems. but, her pedicure with a long massage and reflexology is almost 1 and 1/2 hours long and oh la la!!!! it's worth every penny or dollar!!!!
well, that's my 2 cents for today.

Hi All, thanks to LULU for writing in todays blog. where are the rest of you. what have you done these last few days. eaten out? gone to a good show? bought a black dress somewhere secret? This is a resource site ( and a fun site to chat about the day). Yes, I had lunch with lulu at rouge tomate. very modern and lean menu that was quite good. will probably be taken over by euros but not yet. The butternut agnoletti were fabulous as was the dark hot chocolate with soy. But the best part of my day was having the massage by "magic fingers" Leigh Hansen. I have had many massages in the past 100 years, but she is the absolutely best. She is always sweet, focuses on needed areas you suggest, never ever hurts me, and has made such a difference in my life. I feel like i am floating for days after I leave. I have arthritis in my neck and back and it is so much better than meds. Her number is 212.604.4745 she does it in your home and at her studio at 113 west 78th. NO00 I am not getting a commission just sharing like I hope you all start to do.

Hi all, where are you?? you must have something to say and add to this blog. don't just be an observer, pls. So yesterday I went with a friend to rouge tomate on east 60th btwn 5th and madison in the old nicole farhi's. It was fun and good as I pointed out yesterday. BUT today I have been validated. The Daily News. that august publication, had a full page review of the restaurant and gave it 4 stars. so if you don't start blogging i am going to turn my talents over to a gossip page and make up things about all of you!! If we are going to make this a success you have to participate. If you're all really positive it will be a great place to come home to at nite. tell us what you are doing? Its christmas season where are you going???? What are you buying as gifts? any suggestions for grown kids?

time for beddie bye.

Hi LULU, you go to the head of the class. you are a great friend and trying to make this work. I went to flex mussels tonite in the old zapatos next to le refuge on 82'lex and 3rd. great mussels, lobster rolls, not trendy, nice service but a little noisy. had grt fun with a grt couple, perhaps we can all go out together and share our foodie interests. if people start adding to this blog i might invite them to a blog party, there that might get them to write more!! go for that massage! love, me

hi ho. honest jo!
why hasn't the latest blog from you appeared here on this page??? I thought you had lost interest too.
Well folks, if ladies do occasionally lunch (used as a verb , of course) then I had lunch or rather "did" lunch at The Union Square Cafe and it was delich!!! And the wait staff is warm and unpretentious and sweet - just like at all the Danny Meyer restaurants.
Saw THE WORST movie on earth or on a CONTINENT (which Sarah Palin would think is a country!!) ---AUSTRALIA. Do miss it. It is a multi hour bore and it's exhausting to watch. aaaargh!
the only worthwhile part, lady friends, is watching Hugh Jackman, and MAN he is worth watching - made the movie. :-)
Taking a break for a little r and r over the week end.
Have a good one.
LULU
